Cape Advanced Engineering Namibia Sludge Treatment Operators Vacancy

Cape Advanced Engineering Namibia (CAE Namibia) requires Sludge Treatment Plant Operators for its Bio-gas Plant based at the City of Windhoek’s Gammams Water Care Works on Otjomuise Road, Wanaheda in Windhoek. The sludge treatment and bio-gas power generation plant is managed by CAE Namibia, which is responsible for all plant operations and the employment of operating and maintenance staff. As the bio-digester runs 24/7, 365 days a year, it requires continuous operations and monitoring and regular action to maintain all equipment.

  • Basic salary, plus overtime and night shift allowances where applicable

Requirements:

  • Namibian citizen
  • Live locally and have reliable transport
  • 9-hour shift (including 1-hour unpaid break).
  • Smartphone for regular work contact, particularly via work Whatsapp groups
  • Matric plus technical work experience, with an N3 or N4 qualification being an advantage
  • 45-hour work-week, 3 weeks on and 1 week off on a regular rotation basis, 3 shifts per day
  • Additional hours and overtime may be required at short notice so flexibility and availability are essential

Chief Responsibilities:

  • Perform sludge treatment operations, including controlling pumping systems
  • Complete inspection sheets, daily sludge treatment operations logs and draw test samples for laboratory chemical analysis
  • Assist with the performance of preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and assist in installation and repair of equipment
  • Monitor the performance of machinery and equipment used to control the sludge treatment process. Report any deviation from normal or expected performance.
  • Perform all sludge treatment operations, plant maintenance and plant construction activities and duties, as well as general maintenance, upgrade and housekeeping duties related to the Gammams bio-digester, sludge treatment and power generation operations
